Redness that comes and goes is not the same as redness that stays

Redness that comes and goes is not the same as redness that stays

If your face flushes at the gym, after a hot shower or a glass of red, and then settles again within the hour, that is a different pattern to redness that simply stays put - and the two are not thought about the same way.

Two patterns worth telling apart

Transient flushing arrives with a trigger and fades once the trigger passes. Persistent redness is more of a background tone that lingers even when nothing obvious has set it off. Plenty of people have a bit of both, which is exactly why a proper look matters more than guessing.

Knowing which pattern is doing most of the work is useful, because it changes where the attention goes - more towards identifying and managing your personal triggers, more towards steady support for reactive skin, or a considered mix of the two.

Why "sensitive" is only half the picture

Rosacea-prone skin is reactive and easily aggravated, so it is often filed under "sensitive" and left there. The trouble is that soothing alone treats the feeling without ever mapping what is actually provoking it. Reactive skin usually responds better to a considered, consistent plan than to a stronger one.

How we approach it at NEA

Care begins with an assessment of your skin and your likely triggers, so anything used in-clinic or at home is chosen to suit reactive skin. Depending on what we find, supportive options may include skin needling and carefully selected chemical peels, introduced gently and paired with calming, barrier-supporting home care. Suitability is always confirmed first.

If your redness and rosacea flares one day and lingers the next, the clearest next step is having it looked at properly rather than guessing at the pattern yourself.

General information only - not medical advice. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Written with AHPRA and TGA advertising guidance in mind.
